WEEKEND IN CALI
- DAY 1 -
* Avo toast for lunch @ Greenleaf Venice!
> THE SETUP :
L. Angels is an art gallery + boutique which sells art by local artists in California! They partnered with ELLA + RUBI for E+R's Venice Beach pop-up! The owner of L. Angles started her very own brand called Bands of L.A., bridging her passion for creating art, and owning a small business. On the front window of the store, reads the quote,
"The dreamers are the saviours of the world."
ELLA + RUBI is owned by two beautiful and inspirational women, Dani and Amy: fashion curators of uncommon goods. I had the pleasure of meeting Dani in Malibu at Be Free Fest: my Gypsy05 pop-up back in March! I created a custom print for ELLA + RUBI, with their mantra, which was displayed at the pop-up,
"Be uncommon."
Among Vogue editors, local bloggers + vibrant creative entrepreneurs, I spent the evening painting custom tote bags for the event. These totes were made out of recycled sails from sailboats, which was totally rad.
- DAY 2 -
Saturday morning, I woke up at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.
* Brunch o'clock !
L A > > > V B
Happened upon this adorable van, and went to take a closer look. Turns out the man who owns it, sells fresh flowers every day, out of the van.
"Simplicity is the law of nature, for man, as well as flowers."
Stopped for a late lunch @ The Butcher's Daughter. Quite convinced that whoever designed this restaurant is my soul sister. Probably my most favorite place that I went in California.
* Avo-eggs benedict for an early dinner. Most satisfying creation.
While I painted tote bags, this was the view to my right. The lines of California are glorious.
- DAY 3 -
Sunday morning we checked out of the Ace, grabbed coffee, stopped by the hotel's vintage photo booth, and picked up macarons from Bottega Louie on our way back to Venice Beach.
The final day of the ELLA + RUBI pop-up was filled with painting customized Bands of L.A. fanny packs, and ELLA + RUBI leather clutches.
While I was in Venice Beach, I had the wonderful opportunity to connect with Jenna Handweiler, from HelloSociety, one of the agenices I work for! We met up to recaffeinate & hear each other's stories at Flowerboy Project, an gorgeous cafe located just a few miles from Abbott Kinney.
Celebratory ice cream was definitely happening. The ice cream barista let one of my best friends Rachel and I sample every unique flavor at Salt & Straw, despite the line behind us which was out the door. On silver spoons, we sampled Honey Lavender and Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons. We finally decided upon handmade waffle cones filled with quickly melting ice cream.
- DAY 4 -
My last day in California was spent exploring Newport Beach and Balboa Island.
* this is a frozen banana, dipped in chocolate, and covered in rainbow sprinkles
forever cali dreamin.
